The Mystery Deepens: Has Matt Cardona Signed with AEW?
Chris Jericho Spills the Beans
AEW's Chris Jericho has dropped a major hint about the contract status of a former WWE star, Matt Cardona. During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Jericho revealed some intriguing details about Cardona's involvement with the promotion.
The Indy God's Recent Moves
Matt Cardona, known as "The Deathmatch King," has been making waves in the independent wrestling circuit since leaving WWE. Despite his success and title wins, he hasn't become a regular face in Ring of Honor (ROH) until recently. On December 5, Cardona made a surprise appearance on ROH's Honorclub, answering Jericho's open challenge for a title match. This sets the stage for a highly anticipated showdown at the Final Battle PPV on December 20.
Chris Jericho's Insights
Jericho, the current ROH World Champion, shared his thoughts on the upcoming match and Cardona's status:
"Just the fact that we are doing this is special. The fact that it's in Hammerstein, with the vibe that is expected. I don't think anybody expected Matt Cardona to answer this challenge. He's not an AEW regular. We haven't seen him a whole lot."
The Build-Up and Ticket Sales
The build-up to this match has been nothing short of phenomenal. Jericho took things a step further by showing up at a GCW show and attacking Cardona. These tactics have paid off, as ticket sales for the Final Battle have doubled since the match was announced.
"I'm very happy with this build we've created the last three weeks. I don't think it could have gone better. I know ticket sales have pretty much doubled after this match was announced. We're going to sell out if we haven't already. It's going to be special just by the fact that we're there. I'm excited about it."
What Lies Ahead
As the Final Battle approaches, all eyes are on Matt Cardona. Will he become the new ROH World Champion? And what about his future with AEW? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: this match is shaping up to be a defining moment in both men's careers.
