WWE News & Rumor Roundup: Big Changes and Surprising Injuries

#1 Wes Lee Injured During WWE Main Event Tapings

WWE tapped the next week's episode of RAW this past Monday in Boston. Among the pre-show matches, Wes Lee, the former NXT North American Champion, defeated Dion Lennox. However, according to PWInsider, Lee got hurt during the match.

Lee reportedly injured his foot or ankle but managed to finish the bout. He is due to be checked out by WWE doctors, but there’s no further update on his condition yet. We wish Wes Lee all the best and hope he recovers quickly.

#2 LA Knight's Injury Rumor Debunked

While Wes Lee did get injured, another similar rumor has been debunked. LA Knight was rumored to be injured after he was allegedly pulled from an upcoming meet and greet in Tampa on December 27th.

A tweet from Luekens Wine & Spirits claimed Knight was injured and Braun Strowman would be replacing him. However, Fightful Select confirmed that WWE has quashed these rumors. Knight is not injured and was never approved for the meet and greet.

#3 Cody Rhodes Replaced by Kevin Owens

Cody Rhodes is currently out of action after Kevin Owens hit him with a Package Piledriver during Saturday Night's Main Event. The American Nightmare was hospitalized and is no longer scheduled for the upcoming Holiday Tour. His replacement? Kevin Owens, of course!

Kevin Owens took to X/Twitter to announce this news. Owens referred to himself as the new, true WWE Champion and confirmed he will keep the Winged Eagle title he stole at Saturday Night's Main Event:

"I am proud to officially announce that I will be competing in my first matches as your new, true WWE Champion on this year’s Holiday loop. Starting in Jacksonville on the 26th, followed by 3 more shows in Florida and then one in Detroit," wrote Kevin Owens.

It remains to be seen when Cody Rhodes will return and continue his feud with Kevin Owens.

#4 Title Change at NXT Tapings

Next week's episode of NXT, airing on Christmas Eve, was taped last night following this week's episode. The biggest moment from the tapings was Lexis King shockingly winning the Heritage Cup from Charlie Dempsey.

According to multiple accounts online, William Regal hit Dempsey with brass knuckles, causing King to win the cup by disqualification. The wrestling legend remains on the opposite side from his son, who would be furious at the events that transpired.

Conclusion

Today’s WWE News and Rumor Roundup has been packed with surprises and big changes. From injuries to title changes and exciting replacements, the wrestling world is definitely keeping us on our toes. Stay tuned for more updates and don’t miss the upcoming shows!
